About the Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT)

CEWiT is an autonomous research organisation based in Chennai. It was setup in 2005 as a public-private partnership between the Govt of India and the Indian telecom industry. We are at the forefront of 4G wireless research, working on cutting-edge solutions, with particular emphasis on addressing problems unique to the mobile network deployment scenarios prevalent in India. Our work areas span from physical layer right up to applications and services. We don’t limit ourselves to publishing research and conference papers. Rather, there is a very strong emphasis on creating Intellectual Property, contributing actively to emerging 4G standards as well as undertaking prototype and proof-of-concept development of systems. In its brief period of existence, CEWiT has established strong relationships with the Indian telecom industry (incl. operators, vendors and IT companies), Govt. agencies and academia. In addition, international linkages have also come up. A particular example is the Indo-UK Advanced Technology Centre (IU-ATC), a large-scale joint R&D framework involving industry and academic institutions from India and UK.

Job profile

We are looking for fresh/experienced EC/CS graduates (ME/M. Tech/MS) from IITs/IISc/NITs and other top-ranked institutions from across the country, motivated by a strong desire to undertake cutting-edge research in wireless networks. Currently, we have openings for researchers in the IUATC project which involves addressing problems related to scheduling, Quality of Service and mobility management in heterogeneous wireless networks. Selected candidates will work in a team developing algorithms and solutions, evaluating them via simulations, implementing prototypes in a testbed and creating showcase demonstrators. This work will be carried out in close collaboration with research teams in India and UK.

CEWiT is located in the newly-built IIT-Madras Research Park, which is just off the IT corridor and right next to the IIT campus.
